Pancake Tuesday, (also known as Shrove Tuesday) falls on March 4th in 2025 and what better
way to spend the occasion than with a delicious and indulgent chocolate pancake treat? 
 
Smother your pancakes with our warm and decadent signature chocolate sauce,
carefully crafted by our own chocolate masters. 

Make your own pancakes: Butlers Chocolate Pancake Recipe Smothered with Warm Chocolate Sauce 

 Luscious chocolate American-style pancakes smothered with a 
decadent warm chocolate sauce -  an especially delicious and indulgent treat.

 Makes 8-10 pancakes  

Pancake ingredients:
100g plain flour
2 tbsp. cocoa powder,
sifted ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
150ml milk
2 tbsp. unsalted butter,
melted 1 large egg,
lightly beaten 2 tsp caster sugar  

Chocolate sauce ingredients 
100ml milk
150g Butlers 40% Milk Chocolate Bar, roughly chopped.

For the pancakes: 

Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together.
Add the milk, melted butter, egg and sugar, then whisk until the batter
is smooth.  Place a large frying pan over medium-high heat, reduce heat to
medium and drizzle a little oil.  For each pancake, place a ladleful of batter in the
pan - you can cook a few at a time, depending on the size of your frying pan. 
Cook until bubbled appear on the surface, then flip over with a spatula and
continue to cook for 1-2 minutes.  Keep the pancakes warm in a low-temperature
oven while you cook the remaining pancakes. 

For the sauce: 

To make the sauce, place the milk and chocolate in a small saucepan
over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and
shiny.  Serve the pancakes with warm chocolate sauce.
